Richard “Rick” W. Froehlich  Jr.

Richard “Rick” W. Froehlich  Jr., 68, Menoher Heights, died Sept. 26, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. Born January 10, 1957, in Johnstown, son of Richard W. Sr and Barbara J (Krupa) Froehlich.

Preceded in death by his father, Richard; and close friends Linnie Joy and Sheila (McNamara) Clem.

Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Froehlich; his children, Keith and Jessica (Roth), Johnstown, and Christopher, Somerset; his siblings: Donna, widow of Harold Zendt, Texas; Ronald W. and partner, Johnstown; and Katrina, married to Mark Knapp, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Rick retired as a lead fitter from Peoples Natural Gas in 2018, after 40+ years. During which time, Rick made many friends that quickly became family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Andrew Council 11308. Rick loved the beach and riding his bike, ensuring to take bikes on each trip. Rick and Cindy would start each day with a boardwalk bike ride that ended with bagels and coffee with the sunrise on his face. When the beach wasn’t an option, he would be relaxing in the pool doing his word search puzzles. Cars were his passion, whether working on his own or going to car shows. If you couldn’t find Rick in the house he was most likely washing his cars or in the garage. His love of cars led to years of memories of going to races, both Nascar and local tracks. Whether it was with his friends or taking the boys to their first races and instilling a love of cars in them. Rick was a hard worker. If he had a moment to relax he was planning his next project. Recently, he finished a beautiful sidewalk and breezeway at the house where he and Cindy loved passing the evenings together. Currently, he has been working on a deck at the house that he has proudly designed. Rick will be missed by everyone that knew him. He had a strength that is hard to describe and a dedication to his family that is unmatched. From coaching the kids soccer teams and leading boy scout troops to pancake breakfasts and other events at the church, Rick was always busy helping. It didn’t stop there though, his garage at home was always open if someone needed help. Everyone knew you could call Rick at any time with any question and he would help or talk you through it.

Friends will be received from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday, October 2nd, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. 

Funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Friday, October 3rd at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1621 Ferndale Ave.

Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
