Robert W. Young

Robert W. Young Sr., 82, of Salix, died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 30, 2024. Born on July 7, 1942 in Johnstown, son of Herbert and Katherine (Miller) Young.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers George and Barry, and grandson Travis. Survived by his loving wife Darlene (Sendek) Young, son Robert W. Young Jr. (Melissa), of Florida, and daughter Patricia (Robert Peifer), of Boswell, grandchildren Marley and Megan Young, Kayla (Collin Day), and Jared Peifer (Alexis), great-grandchildren Olivia, Luella, Hudson, and Milo, brothers and sisters Herbert Young (Janice), James Young (Jean), Daniel (Beth), Carol (Ron Yeager), Lou Ann Fabian, and Sherrie Young. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. 

Robert was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam Era and served in the 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, Ft. Sill. 

He worked at United Metal Fabricators, in Johnstown, for over 35 years in packing and shipping. 

He was a member of Windber VFW, and the American Legion. He was a longtime member of Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship. He loved hunting, fishing, and talking about old cars. 

He loved attending the family picnics at Shawnee. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be sadly missed. 

Friends received from 4-6 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, East Hills Chapel and Crematory, 404 Walters Avenue Johnstown PA 15904. Memorial service will begin at 6 PM at the Funeral Home, Pastor Gary Tustin.
