Robert James “Bob” Horner, 95, of Westmont, passed away on August 21,2024 at Villa Crest: Horizons Personal Care Home in Johnstown, PA. Born on June 9, 1929, in Johnstown to Theodore and Margaret (Page) Horner.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pastor Wilma Grace (Page), and brothers Theodore, Neil, Mearl, and sister Faith (Housel).
Survived by four children: Debra (Horner) Gehlman, Johnstown, wife of Larry Gehlman, Robert E. Horner "Toby", Lancaster, married to Tracy Horner (Cooper), Gregg Horner, Frederick, MD, married to Kathleen Horner (Shields), and Traci (Horner) Krzywicki, Pittsburgh, wife of Michael Krzywicki; seven grandchildren: Meghan Ganser, (fiancé Ronald Dias), Stephen Ganser (Michaella Fickes), Abel Horner (Alex Valenzuela), Attie (Horner) Frey (Matthew Frey), Grace Drinkard, Owen Krzywicki, Paige Krzywicki; three great grandchildren Zander and Chancellor Frey, and Tejas Dias; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bob was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and served as an Airman on the flight deck of the USS WASP. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as Personnel Director. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church Community where he supported his wife in ministry as a member at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Holsopple and was an active visitor at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Johnstown. He was a member of Tres Dias, and past Grand Master of the Cambria Masonic Lodge. “Bob” enjoyed gathering with family and friends and loved to be outdoors. Camping was a favorite activity for the Horners, with many memories made at Raystown Lake. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Friends and family will be received from 12 PM until 4 PM, with a memorial service immediately following, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, PA 15905. Private entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
