Rosemary Altimore, 81, of Johnstown, died at home surrounded by her loving family, on July 7, 2022. Born February 16, 1941, in Johnstown, daughter of James and Mary (Distefano) Piro.
Preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Maria Lynn.
Survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ernest, daughter, Gina, married to Brett Gross, granddaughter, Natalie, with whom she loved spending time, and especially loved attending all her sporting and school events, brothers Anthony, married to Mary Rita, James, married to Lucille, and Francis, married to Donna, also numerous nieces, and nephews.
Her family was her life, and she loved to bake and cook for them. She especially enjoyed hosting the family’s annual Italian Christmas Eve meal.
Rosemary was a 1958 Graduate of Johnstown High School. She earned a degree as an LPN and made a career in nursing. She headed the Ambulatory Surgery Unit at Mercy Hospital, and later retired from Conemaugh Hospital’s Renal Dialysis Unit. She volunteered for the AAABA and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was a lifetime member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, formerly St. Anthony’s Church, on Maple Avenue where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Fr. George Gulash.
Friends received 3-7 PM Monday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, East Hills Geistown Chapel and Crematory, 404 Walters Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15904.
