Russell William (Bill) Zimmerman, 80, of Upper Yoder, died suddenly on July 28, 2023, at home. Born on November 2, 1942, in Johnstown, son of Russell and Ella (Dezelon) Zimmerman. Preceded in death by parents, brother James and infant sister Ada.
Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann Beblar, sons Bradley William, Christopher Joseph (Molly), daughter Erin Nicole (Hatem), and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a 1960 graduate of United High School. Afterwards, he attended Southern Methodist University on a football scholarship, before transferring to Indiana University of Pennsylvania earning his degree in Chemistry. He was a First Lieutenant Quarter-Master Corps for the United States Army and was awarded a bronze star medal for his meritorious service in connection with military operations during the Vietnam War.
Bill was employed by Bethlehem Steel for 25 years and served as a Grievance Officer for the United Steelworkers of America Union, and then managed Gautier Federal Credit Union up to his retirement. Throughout the years, Bill also enjoyed his time as a PIAA football referee and West Suburban Little League coach.
Bill was a devoted father and husband who always put his family first. He will be missed for his gentle nature and willingness to help those dearest to him, including his fellow veterans. Bill was a longtime member of Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish.

Friends and family received from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 PM at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd, Johnstown, PA 15905, Fr. George Gulash, officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
