Samuel "Sam" Paul Chiodo, age 73, passed away on December 4, 2023, in Coral Springs, Florida.
Born March 22, 1950, in Johnstown, PA, to Anne Caeti and Louis "Moon” Chiodo, Sr.. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Ralph (Laurel, MD). Survived by brothers, Thomas (Los Angeles,CA) and Louis, Jr., married to Bianca Santana Darte (New Providence, NJ), daughter, Kristin, married to Lt. Col.Gregory Vetere (Austin, TX), and son, Matthew (Denver, CO). Proud grandfather to Brandon and Dean Vetere.
Sam was passionate about music. An accomplished bassist, and mentor to young musicians, he recorded and performed with the late jazz greats Dizzy Gillespie, Jaco Pastorius, and Ira Sullivan. Sam was able to harness the beauty and power of syncopated rhythm and improvisation, captivating all who had the pleasure of listening to his soulful melodies. His music was testament to his creative spirit and loving soul, and will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him best. May he rest in eternal peace.
A graveside service will take place at St. Anthony's cemetery in Richland on January 6 at 12pm.
