Sandra L. Bender

Sandra L. Bender, 83, of Elton, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2021, with her daughter Bonnie by her side.  Born on December 4, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of Robert and Gladys (Sivits) Maloney.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband William Bender who passed January 2, 2019, ending a union of  63 years, and her son-in-law  Dorsey A. Miller Jr.

Survived by three children, Bonnie Miller, with whom she lived with for the last 7 years, Cindy, and Chip; 7 grandchildren, Jamie Fleming, Rev. Dr. Bradley Miller and his wife Rachel, Samantha Miller and fiance Carlos, Jackie Bender, Victoria Bender, Troy Mills, and Angela Mills; great grandchildren Kayen, Max, Bryson, Logan, Beau, and Dylan Bonnie.

Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her dearly.

Sandy graduated from Johnstown High School in 1955. She was a life member of Park Ave. United Methodist Church and associate member of Englewood Florida U.M.C. She enjoyed singing in the choir, was past president of her Sunday School class where she was on the Board of Directors, Trustees, and Administration. She helped for many years with the food pantry.

After retirement, they moved to Florida for 17 years, where she hosted many great family trips and adventures.

She returned 7 years ago to Johnstown to be with her daughter Bonnie and her family. She loved to travel and continued to do so from El Paso to Buffalo to Eastern PA.

Sandra also loved her trips to Las Vegas and other local casinos.

Sandra devoted her life to her family and then to her daughter Bonnie and grandchildren after moving back home.

She was always caring and worried about their happiness before her own. She was a great mom, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved life, God, and her family.

Her strength, love, kindness and understanding will live on forever.

Sandra was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, East Hills Chapel and Crematory, 404 Walters Avenue, Johnstown PA 15904 with friends received from 12 Noon until time of service. Sandra's grandson, Rev. Dr. Bradley Miller will be presiding. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
