William Paul Hickey

William “Bill” Paul Hickey, 80 of Richland died unexpectedly on May 21, 2022. Born on December 15, 1941, in Windber, son of Robert and Helen (Burke) Hickey.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert "Jim" Hickey.

Survived by his loving wife of 51 years Lorelei “Lorri” (Rolish) Hickey, daughters Kirsten Hickey (Ralph Bretz) and Erin Malzi, loving grandchildren Ethan and Cassidy Malzi, son-in-law Ron Malzi, sister-in-law Margaret Ciupak, and niece Vicki Davidyock.

Upon graduating from Windber High School, Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force. After working for many years at Bethlehem Steel, he retired in 2001. He was an active member of the Windber American Legion where he formerly held the post of Vice Commander.

He was a devoted husband and father, but his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.  He rarely missed a first day of school, sporting event, or other special occasion. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and they were a great source of pride for him which would have been evident to anyone who’d ever had the chance to talk with him.

He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where friends and family can gather for a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00 AM, Fr. David Peles officiating. A military ritual will be performed following mass in the courtyard by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corp. League Detachment 287.

Friends received from 4-7 PM on Thursday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, East Hills Chapel and Crematory, 404 Walters Avenue, Johnstown PA 15904.

Private entombment, Richland Mausoleum.
